First, a little history. We're a young club... going on 7 years old now. It all started after Jim Baumann drove his "new" Mini back from Canada at the end of July 1999. He put a message on the MiniMania Message Board asking if there were any other Mini owners in Mini-Sota. Karl Jenstad answered.... They exchanged a few e-mails and phone calls, and MMPEAPSHA was born! Our first meeting was at a local pizza emporium on Aug. 12th, '99 (hence the "Pizza Eating" in our name)...there were only 5 of us in attendance... Jim & Carol Baumann, Karl & Margaret Jenstad, and Steve Kmetz. In the next few weeks (by word of mouth & hearsay) a few more people joined...Graeme & Lori Jury, Tom Schramm & Diane Roberge, Brian Burkart & Nora VanHaaften, and Dave & Nancy Piacentini.
Our 2nd meeting was at the "Wheels & Wings" show in Osceola on Sept. 11th where 24 more Mini enthusiasts joined....and, of course, our third meeting was at Karl's on October 6th where even more signed up. We now have
A LOT more than 271 members, 133 Minis, 15 MINIs, and 9 Mokes! Hey, not bad for a club that's only
6 years old and started off with 5 members and 3 Minis!. If you know of anyone who might be interested in joining, contact Karl Jenstad or me, and we'll give 'em a call or e-mail. We hope to make this an active, fun club. We have no officers, dues, or fees. We have a meeting every month, so if anybody would like to host a meeting, you can contact Karl Jenstad at:
jenstad@pro-ns.net or 1-612-869-7611. You'll be notified by e-mail (or postcard for those with no e-mail) as to when & where the meetings will take place.
In the winter, Mini hibernation season is in full swing, while the MINIs are out braving the elements. We have a full schedule of winter meetings
planned. Meeting notices will be sent out by e-mail (and by snail mail for those without e-mail)....and you can
always check here for our schedule.
For those of you not familiar with Minis/MINIs. Mini represents the original classic Mini while MINI represents the new version.
Y'all come and socialize, hobnob, bench race, talk Minis and MINIs, and munch pizza (or other goodies)!
Our newsletter "The Oily Edition", is always looking for material, so if you'd like write an article, have any tech tips, jokes, pictures of your Mini, items for our "Wanted & For Sale" pages....anything you think might be of interest to the members, contact me, Jim Baumann at:
cbaumann@lkdllink.net or 1-320-963-5681. The deadline is the 25th of the month (more or less) for the next issue. (If you didn't get a copy of the latest issue, contact me and I'll e-mail you one).
